Antibiotics and hormones have been used prophylactically for growth and disease reduction in the majority of food animals worldwide. However, there is now great pressure on farmers to eliminate these drugs while maintaining current production levels.
FPS-4, a patented collection of anaerobic bacteria isolates from the Faecalibacterium Prausnitzii species, will provide a groundbreaking alternative to food animal productivity and health. The objectives of our study were to evaluate the effects of administering FPS-4 to newborn dairy calves on subsequent growth, health, and fecal microbiome.
This placebo-controlled trial published by researchers at Cornell’s College of Veterinary Medicine found that calves treated with our proprietary collection of “super-probiotic” isolates demonstrated significant increases in growth, reduction in scours, and lowered mortality when administered to newborn calves.
FPS-4 is not available for commercial purposes. Please join our mailing list for updates on availability.
"As of Jan 1st, 2017', it is illegal to use medically important antibiotics for production purposes, and animal producers will need to obtain authorization from a licensed veterinarian to use them for prevention, control or treatment of a specifically identified disease."
